Sigma connects directly to your cloud data warehouse and queries data live at the source.
Every action a user takes, whether it's a filter, a pivot, a calculated column - compiles to SQL and runs against your warehouse in real time. Your existing security policies and governance controls stay in place automatically. Business users get self-service access. IT keeps oversight.
Sigma was recognised in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms as a Niche Player. It holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating on Gartner Peer Insights, with 92% of customers recommending the platform.

When to use Sigma
Sigma makes sense if:
You're on Snowflake or Databricks and want self-service analytics.
Sigma is built for warehouse-native analysis. If your data already lives in Snowflake, Sigma queries it directly without duplication or extraction.
Your business users need more than dashboards.
Sigma goes beyond static reporting. Users can explore data, capture input, run what-if analysis, and trigger operational workflows - all in one place.
You need analysis and action in one tool.
Writeback, data apps, and workflow automation mean Sigma can replace several point solutions for teams that currently move between reporting tools and spreadsheets to get things done.
Sigma vs other BI tools
Sigma is often compared with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and Qlik. The main difference is that Sigma is positioned around live warehouse-native analytics with a spreadsheet-like interface and growing workflow and embedded capabilities.
| Tool category | Typical strength | Where Sigma stands out |
| Traditional BI tools | Dashboards and reporting | More interactive, live warehouse queries, spreadsheet-style analysis, writeback, and embedded analytics |
| Spreadsheet-based analysis | Familiar user experience | Adds governance and live warehouse data |
| Embedded analytics tools | Product analytics delivery |
Includes exploration, workflows, and writeback |
We implement Sigma and other solutions. Choosing the right one depends on your current set up, and goals.
