About Revolution Bars

Revolution Bars has been making party spirit since 1996, operating 49 locations across the UK. The cocktail bar chain focuses on innovation in drinks, food and party experiences, travelling the world to seek out latest trends and bringing them to customers before anyone else on the high street.

The challenge

Strategic partnerships with local universities allow Revolution Bars to promote their events in exchange for a commission. They needed to track commission payments and assess student loyalty.

Revolution wanted a clear picture of the impact of their partnerships with universities. They needed a system that could track and report on the revenue they were generating, keep them up to speed with the commission they owed and assess the loyalty of the students they engaged with.

The solution

We captured the loyalty and sales data in a Microsoft SQL data warehouse and presented it in IBM Cognos Analytics.

A suite of sales and loyalty reports were developed to support Revolution's marketing initiatives, allowing them to focus on the societies where they could see they were having the greatest impact, and save money elsewhere.

The results

We painted a clearer picture of student loyalty across their university partnerships.

Revolution can now focus promotional activities on the best performing societies.

The comprehensive reporting reduced the cost of the scheme as a whole by identifying where resources were being wasted and where they should concentrate efforts.

"Revolution Bars had a really interesting challenge - they knew their university partnerships were working but couldn't see which ones delivered the best return. Building the loyalty analytics to show student behaviour patterns and society performance was satisfying because now they can invest their marketing budget where it actually works."
