Sally Beauty is part of the Sally Europe family and the world's largest distributor of professional hair and beauty products. With over 60 years in business, they operate more than 400 stores across UK and Central Europe, serving both trade and retail customers. Sally Beauty provides professional brands and products to hair and beauty enthusiasts, while their trade division Salon Services offers exclusive access to industry professionals.

The challenge

With their business growing, Sally Beauty's ERP system was becoming obsolete. Unable to support their business growth and new reporting requirements, their legacy ERP system on  IBM AS400 was out of date.

In order to continue to grow and manage their data, they needed to embark on a significant project to replace the AS400 with an entirely new system.

 

The solution

We fitted them out with a new SQL Server data warehouse, integrating data from Sally Beauty's new AX ERP system, along with other suppliers such as Slimstock, WMS and JDA.

Retaining all of their historic data, IBM Cognos Analytics was then deployed to provide reporting for every department in the business. Executed over a weekend, this significant, long term project dramatically improved Sally Beauty's data analysis capabilities.

 

The results

We helped move ERP systems without any reporting disruptions and expanded business reporting across all departments. The speed of production of critical business information improved significantly.

Sally Beauty can now incorporate Salon Success into their reporting and plan to integrate their business Europe-wide.
