Qlik NPrinting February 2020 release has landed following the Qlik Sense February 2020 release and although it is only a single-feature release, it is very much welcomed and closes off some support inconsistencies. So what is it you may be asking…
Previously, QlikEntity reports only supported QlikView applications, but now they support both QlikView and Qlik Sense. For those of you who have only ever known Qlik Sense, and most likely will have never created a QlikEntity report, these reports allow for fast and effective reports to be created with Qlik NPrinting without the need to create an NPrinting template.
This is because a Qlik NPrinting entity report contains a single Qlik object. Therefore, users simply create a report, specify the connection, app and object they want and Qlik NPrinting handles the design of the template (all based around the object). Filters can still be supplied to reduce the data set too.
Once the report has been added to a Publish task, you can select the output format:
I’ve highlighted the most commonly used file formats. The benefits of QlikEntity reports are time! Time savings from creating and maintaining highly formatted NPrinting templates. These are particularly useful for internal documents, used for exception reporting as an example, where the formatting isn’t required and you just need to know the problem records. Here is a useful video demonstrating the creation of QlikEntity reports.
A small release in February 2020, but the statement of direction seems to suggest a lot is in store for Qlik NPrinting in 2020 and beyond, which I look forward to seeing. On my wish list this year is a hosted Qlik Cloud version and better integration with the Qlik Sense – unified scheduling would be nice!
