The day kicked off with coffees, teas and pastries as registrants arrived at the Burlington Hotel which is just a stone’s throw from New Street Station. Head of Origination, Neil Thorne, introduced the day in consummate style before Ometis MD, Andy Patrick, hosted a talk titled, ‘Find Certainty in the Midst of a Dynamic Global Economy’ while showcasing the latest Qlik innovation.
After that we heard from PizzaExpress’ Head of Business Intelligence, Dan Williams, on how Qlik’s helping the brand drive business growth across their customer base and beyond. It was a hugely valuable discussion highlighting the power of data literacy in the F&B industry.
We then jumped into the world of diversified machinery and Ingersoll Rand as their Director of Business Intelligence, Nick Seagrave, provided invaluable insight into how the global business has grown from 100 Qlik users to 1000, how that was done and how they continue to drive efficiencies thanks to the intuitive platform.
‘It was hugely beneficial to hear from these world-leading businesses and how they’re working with Ometis and utilising Qlik to make more-informed business decisions,’ explained Patrick.
‘Driving efficiencies in your business has never been easier thanks to the ground-breaking Qlik platform but hearing how it’s being done firsthand is always beneficial.’
Attendees also had the privilege of hearing from Gary Palmer, Qlik Luminary and IT Director at Forbidden Planet, during a customer QnA.
‘Gary rounded off our diverse customer offering by explaining how Forbidden Planet use Qlik to manage, maintain and optimise commerce across all their world-leading brands,’ added Patrick.
Once the customer discussions were over, we broke for a delicious lunch and a chance for attendees to share their own issues, ideas and evolutions of Qlik.
‘One of the most important elements of events like today is the ability for customers to share their own experiences with Qlik, as well as the business problems they’ve faced and how Qlik has helped them overcome those problems. This peer-to-peer approach is a key part of the day for all our attendees,’ said Patrick.
After lunch, it was time for the workshops held by both Ometis team members and our expert partners. They included a look at QCDI (Qlik Cloud Data Integration), an analysis of the Talend tool following Qlik’s recent acquisition and an introduction to the native Qlik Sense extension Inphinity.
There was also a chance to enjoy one-on-one time with Ometis’ Head of Consulting Services and Qlik Partner Ambassador, Chris Lofthouse, in our ‘Ask the Expert’ corner.
The Birmingham event wasn’t the only time Ometis took part in the 2023 global QlikWorld Tour. We also attended Qlik’s own event in London on Tuesday 4th July.
